A comprehensive text on the melodic and harmonic vocabulary required by the jazz musician. This text provides the classical pianist with the necessary tools to make the transition from Classical performance to the Jazz/Pop world of harmonization and improvisation. It reinforces and augments the knowledge of musicians already performing in the Jazz/Pop field.

Over many years of teaching piano students from junior level to College programs, I have observed the need for practice materials and theoretical information to assist the classically trained pianist to make the transition to jazz and pop playing.  Jazz Workshop addresses this need by laying out much of the information required to smooth the transition.  Most classically trained pianists are unaware of the amount of theoretical knowledge that is required and the type of exercises which will develop the ability to improvise and interpret chord symbols and lead sheets.

My horn playing and rhythm section colleagues have indicated that the information in Jazz Workshop has been of great benefit to them, as well.  If you are a music educator or a classical pianist who wishes this kind of information, contact me through this site.
